vocations_criteria

We invite men who are considering a life of service to God and to the world to join our congregation. We are looking for men of prayer, able to live the physical and mental stress of a lifetime commitment and open to sharing life in common. We look for men who live the gospel, who are reconcilers, who give themselves to serve others and are aware of the needs of others. We have a special devotion to Mary in our prayer, and look to her example and her message in our ministries.

Before an Applicant can be admitted as an affiliate or candidate to the Missionaries of La Salette the applicant must meet all these criteria:

  • EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND AGE

– The Applicant must have completed at least two (2) years of college or its equivalent and ordinarily NOT be over 35 years of age. (If you are recently out of high school but have not yet entered college we would like to continue collaborating with you.)

  • HEALTH

    – The Applicant must be in good physical health to permit him to participate in the mission and ministries of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette. Also the Applicant must be without any medical conditions that would encumber the Congregation with any extraordinary medical expenses.

  • INTELLECTUAL ABILITY

    – The Applicant must be capable of pursuing the necessary studies and professional training required for the ministry.

  • PSYCHOLOGICAL MAKEUP

    – The Applicant must be healthy, stable and mature enough to sustain interpersonal relationships and will be able to meet the demands of community and apostolic life.

  • FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE

    – The Applicant must be able to service or be free of major debts (school loans receive special consideration).

  • OPENNESS

    – The Applicant must have a willingness and flexibility to enter into the religious formation/education experience as defined by the community’s formation guidelines.

  • SPIRITUALITY

    – The Applicant must desire to witness to the Gospel message through a life of prayer, the vows, community life and ministry and want to acquire a basic knowledge of the La Salette event and spirituality.

  • IF ONE IS A CONVERT OR BEEN AWAY FROM THE CHURCH

    – The Applicant must to a practicing Catholic for at least three (3) years.

  • FOR A NON-U.S. CITIZEN

    – Before even becoming an Applicant, one must already be living in the U.S.A., have one’s permanent legal status established with the American Government and be self-supporting.

  • LANGUAGE ABILITY

    – The Applicant must have a good working knowledge and proficiency
    in English.
